Love Your Skin Care Routine

Learning to Love Your Morning and Evening Skin Care Regimen

I hear it quite often from many of you…”I don’t have time to even wash my face!” Although, I realize that life is busy, your skin is your personal suitcase for life and your face is your calling card. Without making things too complicated, basic, quick morning and evening rituals will have a huge impact on the overall health of your skin.

WASH your face my lovelies!!! It’s starts there. Finding an appropriate face cleanser whether a gel or cream texture, will encourage you to wash your face. Applied more make-up then usual..why not wash it twice?! Your skin should feel clean after you’ve washed it, not stripped and tight…please refrain from being tempted to use your body bar, it’s just not meant to be used on your beautiful face. This is the longest part of your routine. You should cleanse your face for at least 1 minute.

What comes next?? That’s a really good question, and I’m glad you asked! Ideally, this is when we apply a serum. 3 to 4 drops, evenly massaged into your skin. This will only take seconds! The choice of your serum is an important one, and can become overwhelming since serums have the potential of changing the condition of your skin that your trying to target. Two popular and universal serums are Vitamin C serums, and Hyaluronic Acids. Both important for healthy skin. In my opinion, your Vitamin C is an important investment and sometimes the most expensive one. Always know that I am a text or email away to help and guide you in your choice.

After your morning serum, what comes next? Your moisturizer! This is where I tell you that you can save a little money by buying a good pharmacie brand like Cetaphil or CerAvie. Be sure to notice the texture of your moisturizer! Thicker cream textures are more nourishing and are meant for DRY skins…notnecessarily for dehydrated skins! More fluide textures will be enjoyed by oily to combination skins. Remember…the change of seasons may also have you enjoying a different texture. Bottom line, a moisturizer is essential in maintaining your skin’s  happy levels of hydration and lipidic(oil) content.

And of course…last but not least…in fact the most important…your sunscreen!! Every day, summer like winter, and even if you’re just in your car!! So of course finding your favourite sunscreen will be important so that you feel motivated to wear it! There are so many that it can be mind boggling…but they have improved drastically, so know that together we can find the right one for you. I will always promote a mineral sunscreen over ones with chemical filters, and promise to write more about this in another blog. Your sunscreen is the last step to your morning routine, because it’s your shield. If you choose to wear foundation or a finishing powder, this is where you do it…after your sunscreen please:)

This 4 step morning routine should take all of 3 minutes out of your busy morning. I strongly encourage you to be consistent about it, you are absolutely worth it :)

Now for your evening routine, (I’ll be brief)...

Cleanse your skin well!! This is when we might choose to wash our face twice, making sure we’ve removed all traces of make-up and pollution. The choice of serum can be changed by targeting a secondary issue in your skin, or the use of Retinol (on a bi-weekly basis), is one of my favourites too. After your 2nd step comes the application of your moisturizer…which does not need to be an evening-only moisturizer!! Then off to bed you go feeling refreshed and loved :)
